Tracking Payment Status

The status timeline

Sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Open any invoice and look at the right-hand panel. The timeline walks through the invoice's life in chronological order.

What each state means

• Draft — the invoice exists but hasn't been sent
• Sent — delivered to your client; awaiting payment
• Viewed — the client opened the email or the hosted link
• Paid — payment received and reconciled
• Overdue — the due date has passed without payment
• Voided — withdrawn by you; no further action expected

When an invoice flips to paid

1. Manual mark-as-paid — the simplest path; useful for bank transfers, cash, or any out-of-band payment
2. Automatic reconciliation — for connected payment methods, the status updates as soon as the payment provider confirms the charge
3. Partial payments — record any amount; the timeline tracks the running balance until it hits zero

Filtering and reports

The dashboard exposes filters by status, date range, client, and amount — useful for closing out a month or chasing overdue accounts in a batch.

Reports export to CSV so you can hand them off to a bookkeeper or feed them into the accounting tool you use today.
